Why Trudy Primary?

'Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words, but by experiences in the environment.'

Dr Maria Montessori

At Trudy Primary, we believe that educational environments – both inside and outside the classroom – are fundamental to children’s development. We also know that flexible, interactive environments that encourage experiential learning don’t happen by accident. They’re the result of deliberate design and ongoing evaluation. That’s why at Trudy Primary we have created products which are adaptable as well as practical, to meet the ever-changing needs of all learners.

The starting point for each design is the creation of a safe, secure space where children feel valued and have a sense of belonging. Indeed, it’s the attention to detail that sets us apart. From curved corners and easy-grip, half-moon handles to locking castors, each piece of Trudy Primary furniture has been carefully developed with safety, quality and practicality at its heart.

Space-saving storage solutions are also a priority. At Trudy Primary, we know that when materials are accessible, engaging and well-organised, children are inspired to be independent. From open shelving and innovative cupboards to specialist book storage and the dress-up trolley, everything has a place in a  space that encourages self-reliance and autonomy.

While setting up the environment, it’s important to step back and determine whether each area is accessible, child-friendly and dynamic. That’s why our design is underpinned by careful planning and driven by how furniture and materials reflect and support the developmental needs of all learners. Even elements as simple as the ‘cubby craft trolley ’ has been designed to encourage self-selection as well as functionality!

Our commitment to the environment beyond the classroom is also a  fundamental concern. At Trudy Primary, we only use timber supplied by companies accredited by the Forest Stewardship Council, meaning that all of our timber-based materials come from sustainable sources. Additionally, we recycle 95% of waste materials, opting for reusable and/or biodegradable packaging where possible. In this way, all Trudy Primary products are not only manufactured to the highest quality standards, but also at a minimum cost to the environment.
